About the role

Wisdom Saving and Loan Cooperative is currently seeking an Operations Manager to join our team in Hawassa. JOB PROFILE • Job Title: Operations Manager (OM) • Report to: Branch Manager, Wisdom SACCO • Location: Wisdom SACCO Head Office ROLE PURPOSE The Operations Manager (OM) shall report to the Branch Manager. The Operations Manager shall oversee the day-to-day operational functions of the SACCO and is responsible for daily communication with the Branch Manager, creating operations strategies and policies, communicating operational strategies to employees, and building employee alignment with SACCO's goals. The operations manager is also responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental, branch and overall organizational operations through the provision of effective leadership. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Operations Management: Oversight and management of the day-to-day operational functions of the SACCO. • Improve operational management systems, processes and policies towards achievement of company strategic and operational objectives. • Formulate and implement departmental and organizational policies and procedures to maximize output. • Review operations reports and ensure compliance with the policies, regulations, acts and procedures. • Coordinate, manage and monitor all branches and act as the intermediary between the branch and head office operations, intervening to ensure faster response/action on requests raised. • Provide leadership and manage branch business and performance. • Review and analyze Branch Performance reports of activities that have taken place within a quarter and summarize for the Branch Manager. • Facilitate coordination and communication between all support functions. • Coordinate cash collections from the customers and ensure delivery to all branches on time. • Develop and monitor departmental annual budget. • Plan and lead the members' education days/forums and other SACCO activities. • Facilitate effective relationship management for external and internal customers. • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Branch Manager. Governance Responsibilities: Advise the Branch Manager and the Board on various matters affecting the SACCO, both internally and industry wide. • Prepare and present Board papers/reports as directed by the Branch Manager from time to time. • Liaise with the Branch Manager and assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity, and implement and manage operational plans. • Coordinate external engagements and correspondence with key partners, e.g. banks and consultants. • Ensure all stakeholders relate well with the SACCO — staff, Board of Directors and other external stakeholders. • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE • Bachelor degree in Management and related areas with minimum 1 year (2017 or 2018 EC graduate) relevant experience in SACCO. • Accounting certification will be an added advantage. • Working knowledge of banking and accounting systems. ESSENTIAL SKILLS • Good analytical, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. • High degree of integrity, strategic thinking and results-oriented. • Adequate knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management. • Track record of good management and development skills. • Knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
